Subaru Trailseeker Earns a Spot on Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems List

October 19th, 2026 by

The Subaru Trailseeker is already turning heads. In its first year on sale, Subaru’s all-electric SUV has been named to the 2026 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems list. The judges at WardsAuto praised the Trailseeker for its smooth operation, range, available power, and acceleration. The 2027 Trailseeker is on sale now, starting at $39,995 MSRP, and Cross Creek Subaru is proud to offer it.

About the Award

Each year, Wards evaluates powertrains from returning winners as well as all-new or significantly updated cars, trucks, and SUVs. For 2026, the judges looked at 26 powertrains and scored them on power, torque, refinement, efficiency, and innovation. The Trailseeker made the cut in its first year.

Robin Warner, WardsAuto Judge and 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems Program Manager, called the Trailseeker “the ultimate sleeper,” noting that it looks unassuming but powers through traffic like a muscle car. He also said its range estimates hold up well in real-world driving, interstate included, and that Subaru keeps the price reasonable given its capability.

Charging Made Easy

The Trailseeker comes with a standard North American Charging Standard (NACS) charge port, giving you access to more than 25,000 charging stations across North America. On a DC fast charger, it can charge from 10% to 80% in as little as 28 minutes at speeds up to 150 kW.

Cold weather is covered, too. An onboard battery preconditioning system can be activated by navigating to a charging destination or by the driver through the touchscreen. It lets the Trailseeker charge in temperatures as low as 14 degrees Fahrenheit at speeds comparable to those in normal weather.
